From Brand Alignment to Payment Innovation

TD is a Canadian multinational banking and financial services company that offers financial products and services through its Canadian Retail, U.S. Retail, Wealth Management and Insurance, and Wholesale Banking segments.

The Challenge + Impact

 

TD faced parallel challenges. At TD Securities, years of failed redesigns left the website increasingly out of sync with the TD brand, creating pressure to deliver a solution that could not fail. At the same time, TD Canada Trust (in partnership with CIBC, RBC, and Scotiabank) was exploring the future of digital currency and payments, requiring a working prototype to bring business, technical, and design teams into alignment.

RDEL Group partnered with TD across both initiatives:

  • Designing and building the “myBank” prototype, enabling Canada’s largest banks to test new digital payment solutions.

  • Delivering a successful, brand-aligned website redesign for TD Securities.

Together, these efforts strengthened TD’s brand foundation today, while opening pathways for industry innovation tomorrow.

Pay by Bank Prototype

As part of an industry-wide initiative led by TD, the bank was in need of a neutral prototype to test a new “request payment” solution. The goal: build a proof of concept that could align stakeholders across business, engineering, and design.

Our Approach

We began by mapping the existing Canadian checkout and transaction flow, creating a shared baseline understanding across all teams. From there, we designed and built “myBank”—a neutral brand prototype that housed the new payment request solution.

The Results

  • A fully functioning proof of concept delivered on time

  • A shared tool for cross-bank alignment and decision-making

  • Clear validation to move the solution into its next phase

TD Securities Website Redesign

TD Securities had endured multiple failed redesign attempts, leaving its website out of date and out of sync with TD’s corporate brand. A successful outcome was critical.

Our Approach

We immersed ourselves in the Emerald Design System, identifying components ready to adapt for the web and filling gaps where the system lacked coverage. From there, we built a TD Securities–specific extension of the system and developed a custom CMS with reusable templates.

  • Successful launch of a brand-aligned TD Securities website

  • A new digital foundation to grow on, after years of stalled attempts

  • A design system adaptation that ensures long-term scalability
